For Fya and me, music is personal. It's never been about simply making another record. It's about creating something that means something and, more importantly, something you can feel.
Fya is an extraordinary producer with a musical history that includes working with Ye (Kanye West) and some of the industry's most influential creatives. But what makes him special to me goes far beyond his credits.
He knows my sound. He understands my artistry. And more importantly, he knows how to meet me where I am emotionally, spiritually, and creatively.
When we created TOAST, he understood the space I was in and the energy I wanted to capture. He has this ability to take what I'm feeling and translate it into sound without me having to explain every little detail. That's something I don't take for granted.
We can spend entire days exchanging ideas, experimenting, challenging each other, and building worlds around the music. There's a level of trust and creative freedom in our process that allows us both to bring our best to the table.
And I think you can hear that connection in TOAST. It's vibrant, unapologetic, and full of life. It sounds like exactly where I was when we made it.
